Possible Causes

Disconnected or reversed external current transformer (CT) wiring, Faulty Garo load balancing controller, Broken RS‑485 or CAN communication cable between units, Incorrect load management configuration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before working on CTs or communication wiring.

  • Check CT orientation: Ensure external CTs used for house load monitoring are installed in the correct direction and on the correct phase conductors, as per Garo's diagram.
  • Inspect CT wiring: Verify that CT leads are connected to the correct terminals on the Garo charger or load controller and that there are no breaks or loose screws.
  • Verify communication bus: For multi‑charger setups, check the RS‑485/CAN daisy‑chain wiring between chargers. Ensure A/B (or H/L) lines are not swapped and termination resistors are set correctly.
  • Review configuration: In the installer menu, confirm that dynamic load management is enabled and that the charger role (master/slave) and maximum current limits are correctly set.
  • Controller replacement: If wiring and configuration are correct but E13 persists, the external load controller or the charger's communication interface may be faulty and require replacement.
