Possible Causes

Damaged control pilot conductor in charging cable, Corroded or bent CP pin in Type 2 socket, Faulty CP driver circuit on go-e control board, Incorrect wiring of external Type 2 socket (for socketed models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before inspecting internal wiring. Avoid touching live pins on the vehicle connector.

  • Inspect Type 2 connector: Examine the CP pin in the vehicle plug or socket for corrosion, dirt, or mechanical damage. Clean gently with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
  • Check cable integrity: Flex the cable along its length while observing the app status. If the error appears/disappears with movement, the internal CP conductor may be broken; replace the charging cable assembly.
  • Verify socket wiring: For go-e units with a Type 2 socket, remove power, open the housing, and confirm that the CP wire is correctly connected to the designated terminal on the control board.
  • Measure CP signal: With a suitable EVSE tester, verify that the CP voltage and PWM duty cycle are within IEC 61851 specifications. Abnormal readings indicate a faulty CP driver on the control board.
  • Replace control board if needed: If wiring and connector are good but CP remains faulty, replace the go-e control board following manufacturer procedures.
