Possible Causes
Incorrect wiring to external energy meter or Modbus device, Wrong Modbus address or baud rate configuration, Broken RS-485 cable, Faulty load management interface on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: De-energize control wiring circuits before modifying connections.
- Check wiring: Verify that A/B (or +/–) lines from the external meter or controller are correctly connected to the go-e RS-485 or control terminals, observing polarity.
- Verify settings: In the go-e app or web interface, confirm that the correct meter type, Modbus address, and communication parameters are configured.
- Test bus integrity: Use a Modbus tester or connect a known-good device to confirm that the external meter is responding. Replace damaged cables or terminations.
- Isolate the charger: Temporarily disable external load management in the settings. If the error clears and charging works, the issue is external to the charger.
- Inspect control board: If communication fails with known-good wiring and devices, the load management interface on the control board may be defective and require replacement.
