Possible Causes
Welded or slow-opening internal relay, Incorrect sequencing of CP signal and power contacts, Damaged or contaminated Type 2 pins, Vehicle inlet fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Stop using the charger immediately if you observe arcing. Risk of fire and damage to EV.
- Inspect connector: Examine the Type 2 plug and vehicle inlet for pitting, burn marks, or melted plastic. Replace damaged connectors.
- Verify de-energization: With the charger commanded off, use an EVSE tester or multimeter to confirm that no voltage is present at the output pins. If voltage remains, the internal relay is likely welded and must be replaced.
- Clean contacts: If only light discoloration is present, clean pins with approved contact cleaner and a non-abrasive tool.
- Service internal relay: Replace the main power relay/contactor module or power board as per go-e instructions.
- Check vehicle: If arcing persists with other chargers, the EV inlet or onboard charger may be faulty and needs automotive service.
