Possible Causes
Damaged pilot signal wire in charge cable, Faulty control board pilot driver circuit, Corroded or bent pins in vehicle connector, Loose internal harness to pilot terminal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the charger at the dedicated EVSE breaker and verify no voltage at the output terminals before opening any covers. Lock out the breaker if possible.
- Inspect the vehicle connector: With power OFF, examine the J1772/Type 2 plug pins. Look for bent, recessed, or corroded pilot pin (usually the small signal pin). Clean light oxidation with electrical contact cleaner and a non‑metallic brush.
- Check the cable for damage: Run your hand along the GoCable charge cable from the wall unit to the vehicle plug. Look for cuts, kinks, crushed sections, or melted insulation. If any damage is found, do not use the charger; the entire charge cable assembly should be replaced.
- Verify pilot harness connection: Remove the front cover of the GoCable EV Home Charger (after power is OFF). Locate the low‑voltage harness from the main control board to the output cable pilot terminal. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not burnt or loose.
- Reset and test: Restore power at the breaker, then perform a soft reset using the front panel or app (if available). Plug into the vehicle again and check if E01 clears.
- If E01 persists: The pilot driver circuit on the main control board may be defective. Replacement of the main control board or the complete charge cable assembly is typically required and should be done by a qualified technician.
