How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Overheating can lead to fire risk. If the enclosure feels very hot or smells of burnt plastic, switch off power immediately at the breaker.
Steps to try:
- Allow cooling: Stop charging and let the charger cool for at least 30 minutes. Ensure the front cover is not obstructed by objects or vegetation.
- Check installation location: If the charger is installed in direct sun, consider adding shading or a canopy. High ambient temperatures can trigger E06.
- Reduce charging current: If your Hager model or app allows, set a lower maximum current (e.g. from 32 A down to 16–20 A) and test again.
- Inspect ventilation: Make sure any side or bottom vents are clear of dust, cobwebs, or debris. Do not drill extra holes in the enclosure.
- If E06 recurs quickly: An internal temperature sensor or power component may be failing. A qualified technician should open the unit, check terminal torque, inspect for discoloration, and test the temperature sensor. Replace the main control board or power module if necessary.
