Possible Causes

Leakage current detected by internal RCD module, Moisture ingress in Type 2 connector, Damaged cable insulation between charger and vehicle, Faulty internal RCD sensor on power board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not continue trying to charge until the cause of the ground fault is identified. Turn off the charger at the breaker.

  • Inspect for moisture: Check the Type 2 connector and vehicle inlet for water, condensation, or corrosion. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow to air dry for at least 1 hour.
  • Check cable sheath: Run your hand along the Hyundai charge cable and look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections. If copper conductors are visible or the cable feels soft/flat, discontinue use.
  • Reset the charger: After drying and inspection, restore power at the breaker. If your Hyundai charger has a reset button, press and hold per the user manual to clear the RCD trip.
  • Test with another vehicle or outlet (if portable model): If E02 only appears with one vehicle, the fault may be on the vehicle side.
  • If E02 recurs with multiple vehicles: The internal RCD sensor or power board is likely faulty. Do not bypass the RCD. Arrange professional service to test leakage current and replace the RCD/power board assembly.
