Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation openings on Hyundai wallbox, High ambient temperature exceeding rating, Failed internal cooling fan (if equipped), Faulty temperature sensor on power board or control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the charger to cool for at least 20 minutes before inspection.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the charger (per manual, typically 10–20 cm). Remove any objects blocking vents or airflow.
- Clean dust: With power OFF and cover removed (if user‑serviceable), gently vacuum dust from vents and around the power board and heat sink. Do not use compressed air directly on electronics.
- Inspect cooling fan: If your Hyundai charger has an internal fan, spin the blades gently with a non‑metallic tool. If stiff or seized, the fan must be replaced.
- Check ambient temperature: If installed in direct sun or a small enclosed space, consider shading or improving ventilation.
- If E05 recurs in normal conditions: A faulty temperature sensor or power board is likely. Arrange professional service to test sensors and replace the affected board or fan.
