Possible Causes
Broken proximity (PP) resistor in Type 2 connector, Damaged proximity wire in charge cable, Faulty plug‑lock sensor (for tethered Hyundai chargers with lock), Defective PP detection circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before handling internal wiring.
- Check connector fit: Ensure the Type 2 plug fully seats in the vehicle inlet and clicks into place (if lock present).
- Inspect cable strain relief: Look for excessive bending or pulling near the wallbox entry and connector handle, which can break the PP conductor.
- Test with another cable (if socketed model): If your Hyundai charger has a Type 2 socket, try a different cable. If E09 disappears, the original cable is faulty.
- Internal inspection: For tethered models, with power OFF, check the PP wire connection on the main control board terminal block.
- If wiring is intact and E09 persists: The PP detection circuit or plug‑lock sensor may be defective. Replacement of the cable assembly or control board by a technician is recommended.
