Possible Causes

Damaged J+ Booster control pilot wire in charging cable, Corroded or bent pins in Type 2 vehicle connector, Faulty pilot signal generation circuit on main control board, Loose connection at vehicle inlet or charger handle

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the J+ Booster from the wall socket or hardwired supply and from the vehicle before inspecting anything. Never open the unit while it is energized.

  • Inspect the vehicle connector (Type 2 plug): Look closely at the pilot pin (usually the small pin near the center). Check for bent, recessed, or corroded pins. Clean light oxidation with a soft dry brush; do not use liquids.
  • Check the J+ Booster cable: Run your hand along the length of the cable to feel for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections that could have damaged the pilot conductor. If you find damage, stop using the charger.
  • Verify connector seating: Firmly insert the J+ Booster plug into the vehicle inlet until you hear/feel a click. A partially seated connector can interrupt the pilot signal.
  • Power-cycle the charger: Unplug the J+ Booster from the supply for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect and try again. This resets the pilot generation circuit on the main control board.
  • Test with another EV (if available): If E01 appears with multiple vehicles, the fault is likely in the J+ Booster cable or main control board, not the car.
  • Do not open the housing: Internal pilot circuitry is on the main control board and should only be tested or replaced by a qualified technician.
