Possible Causes
Faulty proximity (PP) circuit in Type 2 cable, Damaged microswitch or sensor in cable latch, Loose PP wiring on Jaguar wallbox terminal block, Fault in Jaguar wallbox control PCB proximity input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the charger at the main disconnect before opening the enclosure.
- Step 1 – Check plug insertion: Ensure the Type 2 connector is fully inserted and latched into the vehicle inlet. A partially inserted plug can trigger E02.
- Step 2 – Inspect latch mechanism: Examine the latch on the Jaguar cable handle. Make sure it moves freely and is not cracked or jammed. Clean any debris around the latch.
- Step 3 – Try another vehicle (if available): Connect a different EV to rule out a vehicle-side inlet issue.
- Step 4 – Inspect PP wiring (advanced): With power OFF and cover removed, locate the proximity (PP) conductor from the cable to the Jaguar wallbox PCB. Check for loose terminals, broken wires, or discoloration. Reseat the connector on the PCB if present.
- Step 5 – Cable resistance check: Using a multimeter (charger isolated), measure resistance between PP and ground at the cable end. Compare to Jaguar wallbox service specifications. If out of range, replace the cable assembly.
- Escalate: If wiring and cable test good, the proximity input on the control PCB may be defective. Replacement of the Jaguar wallbox control PCB should be done by a qualified EVSE technician.
