Possible Causes
Defective internal RCD test circuit, Stuck RCD mechanism in Jaguar wallbox, Wiring error bypassing internal RCD, Faulty residual current sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not bypass or disable RCD protection. Risk of serious electric shock.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn off the charger at the breaker for 2 minutes, then restore power and see if the self-test passes.
- Step 2 – Mechanical test (if accessible): If the Jaguar wallbox has a test button, press it to verify mechanical operation of the RCD. If it does not trip, the RCD is faulty.
- Step 3 – Inspect internal RCD module: With power OFF, open the enclosure and locate the RCD or RCBO module. Check for signs of overheating or mechanical damage.
- Step 4 – Replace RCD module: If the RCD fails mechanical or electrical tests, it must be replaced with a Jaguar-approved part by a qualified electrician.
- Step 5 – Sensor check: If a separate residual current sensor (CT) is used, verify its wiring and orientation. A failed sensor can cause self-test errors and may need replacement.
