Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical lock pin in Type 2 socket, Failed lock actuator coil, Misaligned lock mechanism due to impact, Faulty lock driver circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the connector out if it is locked; you may damage the socket or cable.
- Step 1 – Attempt normal unlock: Stop the charging session via the app or vehicle, then wait for the lock to release. Listen for a click.
- Step 2 – Emergency release (if provided): Some Jaguar wallboxes have a manual release tab accessible behind a small cover. Follow the user manual to operate it.
- Step 3 – Inspect for debris: With power OFF and connector removed, inspect the socket area for foreign objects or deformation around the lock pin.
- Step 4 – Actuator test (advanced): With the cover removed and power ON, command a lock/unlock via the app and observe whether the actuator moves. If not, test coil resistance with power OFF.
- Step 5 – Replace actuator: If the coil is open or mechanically jammed, replace the Jaguar connector lock actuator assembly. If the actuator is good but never energizes, suspect the PCB driver.
