Possible Causes
Loose mounting hardware causing enclosure vibration, Noisy main power contactor coil, Loose transformer or inductor on main board, AC line harmonics under heavy load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before tightening any internal or external hardware.
- Identify noise source: With the cover on and charger operating, carefully listen to locate the general area of the hum (contactor, enclosure, wall).
- Tighten mounting screws (power OFF): Ensure the JuiceBox is firmly mounted to the wall or pedestal. Tighten all external mounting screws.
- Secure internal components: With power OFF, check that the main power contactor and any transformers/inductors are firmly screwed down. Tighten as needed.
- Contactor replacement: If the hum clearly comes from the contactor and is excessive, replace the main power contactor with an equivalent rated part.
- Monitor for overheating: If noise is accompanied by heat or burning smell, stop using the charger and have it inspected professionally.
