Possible Causes
Incorrect current limit configuration in JuiceBox settings, Shorted or partially shorted J1772 cable conductors, Failing main power relay (contactor) welding or chattering, Faulty current sensor on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker feeding the JuiceBox before opening the enclosure or touching internal wiring.
- Verify circuit rating and app settings: In the JuiceNet / JuiceBox app, confirm the maximum current setting does not exceed 80% of the branch circuit rating (e.g., 40 A max on a 50 A circuit). Reduce the setting and retry charging.
- Inspect the J1772 cable: With power OFF, check for melted insulation, hot spots, or cuts along the cable. If any damage is found, replace the J1772 charge cable assembly before further use.
- Check for overheating at terminals: Remove the front cover (power OFF). Inspect the line and neutral (or line-line) terminals on the input block and the output relay/contactor. Look for discoloration, melted plastic, or loose screws. Tighten terminal screws to manufacturer torque specs if slightly loose; replace any burned terminal block or contactor.
- Test with reduced current: Set the charger to a lower current (e.g., 16 A) and attempt a session. If it works at low current but trips at higher current, suspect a weak main power relay/contactor or undersized wiring causing voltage drop and heat.
- Persistent E02: If the fault appears immediately even at low current and the cable is intact, the current sensor or main control board may be defective. Contact a qualified technician or JuiceBox support for board replacement.
