Possible Causes

Corrupted firmware on main control board, Loose ribbon cable between logic and power sections (if present), Electrical surge damage to microcontroller, Faulty low-voltage power supply on board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the enclosure. Do not short any board components.

  • Hard reset: Turn the breaker OFF for at least 5 minutes to fully discharge internal capacitors, then turn ON and observe behavior.
  • Check internal connectors: With power OFF, open the unit and gently press on any ribbon cables or plug-in connectors between the logic board and power board to ensure they are fully seated.
  • Inspect for surge damage: Look for burned components, bulging capacitors, or scorch marks on the main control board. If present, the board must be replaced.
  • Firmware recovery (if supported): Some JuiceBox models allow firmware updates via app or USB. Attempt a firmware update following manufacturer instructions. If the unit will not enter update mode, the MCU may be irrecoverable.
  • Board replacement: Persistent E12 after these steps indicates a failed main control board. Replacement should be done by a qualified technician.
