Possible Causes
Loose supply terminal at input block, Weak contactor coil connection, Over-sensitive upstream breaker or RCD tripping momentarily, Vibration causing intermittent contact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Random drop-outs may indicate overheating or loose connections. Isolate power before opening the charger.
Steps:
- 1. Check upstream protection: Inspect the main breaker and RCD feeding the KEBA charger. Look for signs of tripping or overheating. Ensure ratings match the charger's maximum current.
- 2. Tighten supply terminals: With power off, tighten all terminals on the KEBA input block and main contactor.
- 3. Inspect for heat damage: Look for discoloration around terminals and on the PCB near the contactor coil driver.
- 4. Monitor during test charge: After re-energizing, start a test charge and gently tap the housing to see if vibration triggers a drop-out, indicating a loose connection.
- 5. Replace suspect parts: Replace a main contactor with intermittent coil or contacts, or repair/replace the input terminal block if damaged.
If the upstream breaker trips, have an electrician verify cable sizing and protective device selection.
