Charger indicates E08; dynamic load management or external current sensor not recognized
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: CTs are installed on live mains conductors. Only qualified electricians should work on them. Isolate circuits where possible.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check configuration: In the KEBA configuration, verify that external current measurement is enabled only if CTs are actually installed. If not used, disable the feature to clear E08.
- 2. Inspect CT wiring: Trace the CT cables from the main distribution board to the KEBA charger. Look for loose terminals, damaged insulation, or incorrect terminal assignments.
- 3. Verify CT orientation: Ensure that CTs are installed with the correct direction (marked arrow towards load or supply as specified). Incorrect orientation can cause invalid readings.
- 4. Measure CT output: With appropriate equipment, measure the CT secondary current or voltage under load to confirm operation. Compare with expected values.
- 5. Check CT input terminals: With power off to the charger, tighten CT input terminals on the KEBA control board and inspect for corrosion or damage.
- 6. Replace faulty components: Replace a defective external current transformer or, if the CT is good but not detected, replace the KEBA load management / CT input board or main control board.
Incorrect CT wiring can lead to unsafe overloading if load management is relied upon. Verify operation thoroughly after repair.
