Possible Causes
Tripped circuit breaker feeding Kia charger, Blown internal fuse on power board, Loose line or neutral connection at charger terminals, Failed internal auxiliary power supply module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work on live circuits must be done by a qualified electrician. Do not remove covers with power on.
- 1. Check the breaker: Locate the dedicated EV charger breaker in your panel. If it is tripped, reset it once. If it trips again immediately, do not force it; call an electrician.
- 2. Verify outlet or hardwired feed: For plug-in models, test the outlet with another high-load device. For hardwired units, an electrician should verify voltage at the charger input terminals.
- 3. Inspect external disconnects: If there is an external disconnect switch near the charger, ensure it is in the ON position.
- 4. Internal fuse check (technician): With power off, a technician can open the charger and test internal fuses and the auxiliary power supply. Replace blown fuses only after identifying and correcting the root cause.
- 5. Replace power module or main board: If the auxiliary supply is dead, the main control board or power module must be replaced with a Kia-approved part.
