Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the enclosure feels very hot or smells like burning plastic, turn OFF the breaker immediately and allow the unit to cool before inspection.
- 1. Allow cooling: Stop charging and let the Lectron charger cool for at least 30–60 minutes. Ensure direct sunlight is minimized if installed outdoors.
- 2. Check ventilation: Verify that there is adequate clearance around the charger per Lectron installation manual (typically several inches on all sides). Remove any objects blocking airflow.
- 3. Inspect for dust buildup: With power OFF, remove the cover and gently blow out dust from vents and around the main control board using dry compressed air. Do not use liquids.
- 4. Confirm ambient temperature: If installed in a garage or enclosed space, measure ambient temperature. If it regularly exceeds the Lectron unit’s rating, consider improving ventilation or relocating the charger.
Resolution: If E08 occurs frequently in normal temperatures with clear ventilation, the internal temperature sensor or main control board may be defective. Replacement of the board is recommended.
