Possible Causes

Shorted component on main control board, Overheated terminal block, Melted insulation on internal wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately stop charging, unplug the vehicle if safe, and turn OFF the breaker. If smoke continues, call emergency services.

  • 1. Do not re-energize: Do not turn the breaker back ON until the unit has been inspected and repaired.
  • 2. Internal inspection: Once fully cooled and with power OFF, open the Lectron housing and look for burnt components, melted plastic, or charred wiring.

Resolution: Replace all visibly damaged components (main control board, contactor, wiring, terminal block) or the entire Lectron EVSE. Because of fire risk, this repair should be performed by a qualified technician or the unit should be replaced under warranty.
