Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the enclosure is too hot to touch comfortably or there is a burning smell, stop charging immediately and turn OFF the breaker.
- 1. Check load vs. rating: Confirm that the Lectron charger’s maximum current matches the circuit and that the EV is not configured to draw more than the EVSE rating.
- 2. Inspect terminals: With power OFF, open the unit and check that all input and output terminals are tight and show no signs of discoloration or melting. Retorque to manufacturer specs if loose.
- 3. Examine contactor: Look for heat discoloration around the main power contactor. A failing contactor can run hot even at normal current.
Resolution: Replace any overheated components (contactor, terminal block, wiring). If overheating persists, consult an electrician to verify circuit sizing and voltage drop.
