Possible Causes
Broken conductor inside Lectron charge cable, Loose pilot or proximity pin in J1772 handle, Thermal expansion causing marginal connection on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before internal inspection.
- 1. Wiggle test: While charging (if safe to do so), gently move the cable near the handle and near the charger. If charging stops when the cable is flexed, the cable conductors are likely damaged.
- 2. Inspect handle strain relief: Look for cracks or gaps where the cable enters the J1772 handle. Excessive bending here often breaks internal wires.
- 3. Internal connector check: With power OFF, open the Lectron unit and reseat the cable harness connector on the main control board.
Resolution: Replace the Lectron J1772 cable assembly if any intermittent behavior is confirmed. Do not continue using a cable that stops and starts charging when moved.
