Possible Causes

Incorrect wiring (single hot leg only) to Lucid charger, Undersized or excessively long supply conductors causing voltage drop, Loose line or neutral connection at input terminal block

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before opening any electrical panel or the Lucid charger. Use a qualified electrician if you are not experienced with high-voltage wiring.

Steps:

  • Confirm breaker rating: Verify the Lucid charger is on the correct double-pole breaker size specified in the installation manual (commonly 40–60A depending on model).
  • Check for two hot legs: At the service panel, ensure the breaker feeds two hot legs (L1 and L2) and not a single-pole or miswired breaker.
  • Inspect input terminals: With the charger cover removed and power OFF, check that L1, L2, and ground are securely tightened on the Lucid input terminal block. Look for discoloration or melted insulation.
  • Measure voltage (qualified only): With power ON and using a multimeter, measure L1–L2 at the Lucid charger input. It should be within the specified range (typically 208–240 VAC). If below spec, wiring length or gauge may be inadequate.

Resolution: Correct any wiring errors, tighten loose terminals to the torque specified by Lucid, and if necessary upgrade conductor size to reduce voltage drop. After corrections, power-cycle the charger and confirm E04 clears.
