Possible Causes
Defective RFID reader module in Mercedes-Benz wallbox, Damaged or unsupported RFID card, Faulty communication between RFID reader and control board, Misconfigured user authorization settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You can troubleshoot RFID without opening live power sections, but isolate power before removing covers.
- Test multiple cards: Try more than one authorized RFID card or key fob. If only one fails, that card may be defective and should be replaced or reprogrammed.
- Check LED and beeps: Observe the RFID reader’s LED and sound feedback when presenting a card. No response may indicate a failed reader or no power to the module.
- Verify configuration: Use the Mercedes-Benz wallbox app or configuration interface to ensure RFID authorization is enabled and that your cards are correctly registered.
- Inspect reader connection: With power off, open the housing and check the small connector from the RFID reader to the control board. Reseat the connector carefully.
- Module replacement: If the reader still does not respond, the RFID module may need replacement by a service technician.
