Possible Causes
Broken PP conductor in cable, Faulty proximity detection circuit on Mercedes-Benz control board, Damaged latch sensor in Type 2 socket, Miswired PP at terminal block
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before inspecting internal wiring.
- Check cable integrity: Flex the cable gently near the plug and wallbox while observing if the wallbox ever detects a connection. Intermittent detection suggests a broken conductor.
- Inspect PP wiring: Inside the wallbox, verify that the PP conductor is correctly connected to the control board and socket.
- Socket latch sensor: If the wallbox uses a socket with an integrated latch sensor, ensure the latch moves freely and the sensor wiring is intact.
- Replace cable or socket: If PP continuity is lost, replace the affected cable or socket assembly.
- Control board service: If wiring and hardware are good, the proximity detection circuit on the board may be defective and require replacement.
