Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker feeding the Mini EV Home Charger and verify power is off with a suitable tester before opening any covers.
- Inspect the Type 2 connector: Disconnect from the vehicle. Check the CP pin (usually the small signal pin) for bending, corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with electrical contact cleaner and a soft brush; do not use sharp tools.
- Check the cable for damage: Run your hand along the Mini-branded charging cable from the wallbox to the plug. Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections. If the cable sheath is damaged or feels soft/flat in one area, the internal CP conductor may be broken. In that case, the entire tethered cable assembly should be replaced.
- Verify cable seating: Ensure the connector is fully inserted into the vehicle inlet until it clicks. A partially seated plug can interrupt the CP signal.
- Internal CP terminal check (advanced): With power OFF and cover removed, locate the control pilot terminal on the Mini wallbox main control board (often labeled “CP”). Verify the screw terminal is tight and the conductor is fully inserted. Do not modify wiring layout; only tighten loose screws.
- Power cycle: Restore power at the breaker, wait 60 seconds, then reconnect to the vehicle and observe if CP001 clears.
If CP001 persists after these checks, the control pilot driver circuit on the main PCB is likely faulty. Contact a qualified Mini service technician to test and, if needed, replace the main control board.
