Possible Causes
Defective RFID reader module behind front panel, Damaged RFID antenna, Loose ribbon cable between RFID reader and main PCB, Corrupted authorization firmware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: Applies to Mini chargers with RFID access control.
- Test multiple cards: Try more than one authorized RFID card or fob to rule out a single bad card.
- Check card orientation and distance: Hold the card flat against the marked RFID area on the Mini charger for 1–2 seconds. Avoid metal objects between card and reader.
- Power cycle: Turn off the charger for 1 minute, then restore power and retry authorization.
- Inspect RFID module (technician): With power OFF, remove the front cover and locate the RFID reader board and antenna. Ensure the ribbon cable or connector to the main PCB is secure and undamaged.
- Replace RFID reader: If the module shows physical damage or E12 persists, replace the RFID reader assembly with a Mini-approved part.
As a temporary workaround, if supported, disable RFID authorization in the configuration to allow open charging until the reader is repaired.
