Possible Causes
Overheating of internal components causing silent derating, Dynamic load management reducing current to zero, Loose output wiring causing voltage drop, Marginal contact in Type 2 connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Intermittent faults can worsen; monitor for heat or burning smell.
- Monitor temperature: During a charge, periodically feel the charger enclosure and cable. Warm is normal; hot to the touch is not. If very hot, stop using and have it inspected.
- Check load management settings: In the Mini app, see if dynamic load management is enabled and whether the charger is intentionally reducing current due to house load.
- Inspect output terminals (technician): With power OFF, open the unit and check that all output terminals to the tethered cable or socket are tight and show no discoloration.
- Clean connector: Use contact cleaner on the Type 2 plug and ensure it is fully inserted into the vehicle.
If interruptions continue, a technician should log current and temperature during operation to identify the failing component.
