Possible Causes

UV exposure and weathering, Mechanical damage from vehicles or doors, Chemical attack from oils or solvents, Aging of cable jacket material

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Danger: Damaged insulation can expose live conductors. Do not use the charger.

  • Stop using immediately: If any copper is visible or the cable jacket is deeply cracked, disconnect the charger from power at the breaker.
  • Inspect full length: Check the entire cable from charger to Type 2 plug for damage, including strain reliefs at both ends.
  • Do not tape over: Do not attempt to repair EVSE cables with tape or heat-shrink; replacement is required.
  • Replace cable assembly: Have a Mini-authorized technician replace the entire tethered cable assembly with an approved part.

After replacement, ensure the new cable is routed to avoid pinch points and excessive bending.
