Possible Causes
Vehicle drawing current above configured limit, Incorrect max current setting in Zappi menu, Internal relay/contactor contacts damaged or welded, Faulty current transformer (CT) feedback causing incorrect current reading
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker or isolator feeding the Zappi before opening any covers. Do not work on live wiring.
- 1. Power-cycle the charger: Turn off the Zappi at the supply breaker for 2–3 minutes, then turn it back on. Reconnect the vehicle and see if E001 clears.
- 2. Check max current settings: On the Zappi front panel, go to Menu > Charging > Max Current and confirm it matches the rating of the circuit breaker and cable (e.g. 32 A for a 7 kW unit). Reduce the setting by a few amps and test again.
- 3. Inspect supply rating: Confirm the MCB/RCBO feeding the Zappi is correctly rated and not undersized. An undersized breaker can trip and cause repeated overcurrent events.
- 4. Check for loose or overheated terminals: With power isolated, remove the Zappi front cover. Inspect the line, neutral and earth terminals on the main terminal block for discoloration, burning or looseness. Tighten to manufacturer torque specs if needed.
- 5. Test with another EV: If possible, try a different vehicle. If E001 only occurs with one car, the vehicle’s onboard charger may be drawing excessive current and needs dealer attention.
- 6. If E001 persists: The internal power contactor or current sensing circuit may be faulty. Do not bypass protection. Contact a qualified electrician or myenergi support for internal board/contactor replacement.
