Possible Causes
Stuck or welded main contactor, Faulty contactor feedback microswitch, Relay driver failure on PCB, Mechanical obstruction in contactor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: A welded contactor can leave the output live even when the charger reports off. Isolate power before inspection.
- 1. Listen for contactor operation: When starting/stopping a charge, you should hear a distinct click from inside the Zappi. No click or continuous humming suggests contactor issues.
- 2. Power off and inspect: Isolate the supply and remove the cover. Locate the main power contactor and check for signs of overheating or melting.
- 3. Check feedback wiring: Some models use auxiliary contacts or feedback wires from the contactor to the PCB. Ensure these are securely connected.
- 4. Mechanical test (power off): Gently operate the contactor manually if possible (per manufacturer guidance) to see if it moves freely.
- 5. Replace contactor if suspect: If the contactor shows signs of damage or sticking, replace it with the exact myenergi-specified part and torque terminals correctly.
- 6. If new contactor does not resolve: The relay driver or feedback circuit on the main PCB may be faulty and require board replacement.
