Possible Causes
Incorrect resistor value in cable plug, Damaged PP contact in Type 2 connector, Vehicle inlet fault, PP sensing circuit failure on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not modify resistors inside plugs unless you are qualified; use certified cables only.
- 1. Try a different cable: If you have a socketed Zappi, use another Type 2 cable. If E017 disappears, replace the original cable.
- 2. Inspect PP pin: Check the PP (proximity pilot) pin in the plug for damage, corrosion, or contamination. Clean gently if needed.
- 3. Test with another vehicle: If the error only occurs with one EV, the vehicle’s inlet or PP circuitry may be faulty and require dealer service.
- 4. Check cable rating: Ensure the cable’s current rating matches or exceeds the Zappi’s output. Underrated cables may cause PP-related derating or errors.
- 5. Firmware update: Update Zappi firmware to ensure compatibility with newer EVs and PP handling.
- 6. If all external components are good: The PP sensing circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require board replacement.
