myenergi Current Limitation / Derating

Zappi shows very slow charging rate compared to expected power, without any error code

Possible Causes

Max current set too low in Zappi, Vehicle limiting current due to battery temperature, Underrated or faulty Type 2 cable, CT/export limit configuration restricting current

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Slow charging is usually not a safety issue but may indicate configuration problems.

  • 1. Check Zappi settings: Verify Max Current and mode (FAST vs ECO/ECO+) in the menu. Set to the appropriate value for your circuit.
  • 2. Inspect cable rating: Ensure the Type 2 cable is rated for the desired current (e.g. 32 A). Lower-rated cables will cause the system to derate.
  • 3. Vehicle status: Check the vehicle’s display/app for any messages about limited charging due to battery temperature or state of charge.
  • 4. CT/export limits: If using CTs and export limiting, review those settings to ensure they are not capping current unnecessarily.
  • 5. Test with another EV/cable: Compare performance with a different vehicle or cable to isolate the cause.
