Possible Causes
Failed RFID reader in Nissan EVSE front panel, Damaged front panel communication cable, Firmware misconfiguration of access control, Faulty control board interface to RFID module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power before removing the front panel or RFID reader assembly.
- Clean reader surface: Wipe the RFID reader area with a dry, soft cloth to remove dirt or residue that may interfere with card reading.
- Test multiple cards/fobs: Try more than one authorized RFID card to rule out a single bad card.
- Check access settings: Using the Nissan app or web portal, verify that RFID access control is configured correctly and that cards are enrolled.
- Inspect cabling: With power OFF, remove the front cover and check the ribbon or harness connecting the RFID reader to the control board. Reseat connectors firmly.
If E15 persists and cards are known good, the RFID reader module or control board interface is likely defective and should be replaced.
