Possible Causes

Failed internal self-test on power electronics board, Defective control PCB, Firmware corruption, Internal wiring harness fault between control PCB and relay module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: NRGkick units handle high-voltage AC. Always disconnect the charger from the mains outlet and vehicle before any inspection. Do not open the sealed electronics housing unless you are qualified; this may void warranty.

  • 1. Power-cycle the charger:
    • Unplug the NRGkick from the wall socket or CEE outlet.
    • Unplug the charging connector from the vehicle.
    • Wait at least 2–3 minutes to allow internal capacitors to discharge.
    • Reconnect the charger to the mains, then plug into the vehicle and check if E01 clears.
  • 2. Check supply and adapters:
    • Verify the wall/CEE outlet is wired correctly and firmly seated.
    • Inspect the NRGkick plug adapter (e.g., CEE 16A/32A adapter) for heat damage, bent pins, or moisture.
    • Try a different, known-good outlet and adapter if available.
  • 3. Reset via app (if supported):
    • Open the NRGkick app and check for any active lockout or error log.
    • Perform a soft reset or restart command if the app offers it.
    • Check for and install any available firmware update.
  • 4. Inspect cable and connectors:
    • Run your hand along the cable to feel for kinks, cuts, or bulges.
    • Inspect the vehicle plug (Type 2) and mains plug for discoloration or melted plastic.
  • 5. If E01 persists:
    • This usually indicates an internal control PCB or power module fault.
    • Do not continue using the charger; internal components may be compromised.
    • Contact NRGkick support or a qualified EVSE technician for internal diagnostics and possible board replacement.
