Possible Causes
Blocked or inadequate ventilation around charger body, Degraded internal temperature sensor on control PCB, Loose or high-resistance connection in plug or adapter causing localized heating, Operation above rated ambient temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Overheating can damage insulation and connectors. Disconnect the charger from mains and vehicle before inspection. Allow the unit to cool completely.
- 1. Allow cooling:
- Unplug the charger from the outlet and vehicle.
- Let it sit for at least 30 minutes in a cool, shaded area.
- After cooling, reconnect and test.
- 2. Improve ventilation:
- Ensure the NRGkick body is not covered by mats, cloths, or coiled cable.
- Do not place the charger on insulating surfaces that trap heat.
- Avoid direct sunlight or enclosed boxes while charging.
- 3. Inspect plugs and adapters:
- Check the CEE/Schuko plug and any NRGkick adapter for discoloration, soft plastic, or burn marks.
- If any connector is hot to the touch after a short charge, discontinue use.
- Replace damaged adapters or have the outlet inspected by an electrician.
- 4. Reduce current limit:
- Use the NRGkick app or onboard controls to lower the charging current (e.g., from 32A to 16A).
- Monitor if E02 still appears at lower current.
- 5. If E02 recurs quickly:
- The internal temperature sensor or power module may be faulty.
- Do not open the sealed housing unless qualified; contact NRGkick support for sensor or module evaluation and replacement.
