Charging does not start; charger shows E04 indicating residual current device (RCD) or leakage current fault.

Safety first: Leakage current faults can indicate serious insulation problems. Avoid using the charger until the cause is identified.

• 1. Dry and clean connectors:
  • Disconnect from mains and vehicle.
  • Inspect the Type 2 plug and mains plug for moisture, dirt, or corrosion.
  • Gently dry with a clean cloth; allow to air-dry completely. Do not use heat guns.
• 2. Try another vehicle (if possible):
  • Connect the NRGkick to a different EV on a known-good outlet.
  • If E04 only appears with one vehicle, the fault may be in that vehicle's onboard charger or inlet.
• 3. Inspect cable:
  • Look for visible damage, cuts, or crushed sections along the cable.
  • If the cable has been submerged or heavily soiled, discontinue use.
• 4. Check outlet and environment:
  • Avoid using the charger in standing water, heavy rain without proper IP-rated sockets, or extremely humid conditions.
  • Inspect the outlet for signs of water ingress or corrosion.
• 5. Persistent E04 on multiple vehicles/outlets:
  • The internal RCD / DC residual current sensor module may be defective.
  • Do not bypass or disable leakage protection.
  • Contact NRGkick support for module testing and replacement.
