Possible Causes
Damaged CP conductor in cable, Bent or contaminated CP pin in Type 2 connector, Faulty pilot signal driver on control PCB, Vehicle inlet CP contact issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always disconnect from mains before inspecting the vehicle connector.
- 1. Inspect Type 2 plug:
- Look closely at the small control pilot pin for bending, corrosion, or dirt.
- Clean gently with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive tools.
- 2. Check vehicle inlet:
- Inspect the vehicle's Type 2 inlet for debris or damage on the corresponding CP contact.
- Clean carefully if needed.
- 3. Wiggle test:
- With the charger unplugged from mains, gently flex the cable near the charger body and near the vehicle plug.
- If you feel a soft spot or hear crackling, the internal conductor may be broken.
- 4. Try another EV or EVSE:
- Test the NRGkick on another vehicle, and test your vehicle with a different EVSE.
- This helps isolate whether the fault is in the charger or the car.
- 5. If CP line damage is suspected:
- The entire cable assembly may need replacement; it is typically not user-repairable.
- Contact NRGkick support for cable or control PCB replacement options.
