Possible Causes

Damaged Type 2 plug proximity pin, Bent or contaminated pilot pin in Type 2 connector, Fault in internal control pilot (CP) circuit on main control board, Faulty vehicle communication due to damaged charge cable

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the charger at the isolator or consumer unit before touching the cable or charger internals. Do not work on live circuits.

  • 1. Power-cycle the charger: Switch the charger off at the dedicated isolator for 60 seconds, then turn it back on. Reopen the Ohme app and retry a charge session.
  • 2. Inspect the Type 2 plug: Disconnect from the vehicle. Check the small pins (especially the pilot and proximity pins) for bending, corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with a dry, soft brush. Do not use liquids or abrasives.
  • 3. Check cable strain: Look along the Ohme tethered cable for kinks, crushing, or cuts. If the outer sheath is damaged or copper is visible, stop using the charger and arrange replacement of the cable assembly.
  • 4. Test with another vehicle or cable (if possible): If you have a socketed Ohme unit, try a different Type 2 cable. If the error clears, the original cable is likely faulty.
  • 5. App and firmware check: Ensure the Ohme app is updated and that the charger shows as online. If prompted, apply any firmware update and then retry.
  • 6. If E01 persists: The internal pilot/proximity circuit or main control board may be faulty. Do not open the charger enclosure yourself; contact a qualified EV charger technician or Ohme support with the error code and serial number.
