Possible Causes
Internal RCD/RCM module tripped due to leakage current, Faulty vehicle causing DC leakage, Moisture ingress in Type 2 socket or cable head, Faulty internal earth monitoring circuit on Ohme main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Earth faults can be hazardous. If you suspect water ingress or damaged wiring, do not continue using the charger.
- 1. Disconnect vehicle: Unplug the vehicle from the charger and close the charge port.
- 2. Visual inspection: Check the charger body, cable, and plug for cracks, water droplets, or condensation. Pay special attention to the Type 2 pins and the underside of the unit.
- 3. Dry the area: If there is visible moisture, switch off power at the isolator and allow the charger and cable to dry completely (at least several hours). Do not use heat guns; allow natural drying.
- 4. Reset power: After drying, turn the charger off at the isolator for 60 seconds, then back on. Check if E03 clears.
- 5. Try another vehicle: If possible, test with a different EV. If E03 only occurs with one vehicle, the fault may be in that vehicle's onboard charger or earthing.
- 6. Check supply earth (qualified person only): An electrician should verify that the supply earth, PME protection (if used), and bonding are correct and that the Ohme's internal RCD/RCM is not nuisance-tripping due to supply issues.
- 7. Persistent E03: If the error remains with different vehicles and in dry conditions, the internal RCD/RCM module or earth monitoring circuit may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
