Possible Causes

Short or open circuit on control pilot (CP) line, Damaged CP resistor network in Type 2 plug, Faulty CP driver on main PCB, Contamination or corrosion on CP pin

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: The CP circuit is low voltage but controls high-voltage switching. Treat the system as live until isolated.

  • 1. Isolate power: Turn off the charger at the isolator before inspecting the plug.
  • 2. Inspect CP pin: On the Type 2 plug, locate the pilot pin (usually the small pin). Check for dirt, corrosion, or mechanical damage. Clean gently with a dry brush.
  • 3. Check cable strain relief: Ensure the cable is firmly held at the plug and charger ends. Excessive flexing can break the CP conductor internally.
  • 4. Test with another cable/vehicle: If you have a socketed Ohme unit, try a different cable. If E11 disappears, the original cable is faulty.
  • 5. Technician testing: A technician can measure CP voltage levels, check the CP resistor network in the plug, and test the CP driver circuit on the main PCB. Replacement of the cable assembly or main board may be necessary.
