Possible Causes
Incorrect or missing PP resistor in Type 2 plug, Broken PP conductor in cable, Contaminated PP pin, Faulty PP sensing circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always isolate the charger before handling the cable pins.
- 1. Power off: Switch off the charger at the isolator.
- 2. Inspect PP pin: Check the proximity pin in the Type 2 plug for damage or contamination. Clean with a dry cloth or brush.
- 3. Flex test: Gently flex the cable near the plug while visually inspecting for cracks or movement that might indicate internal conductor breakage.
- 4. Alternate vehicle/cable: If possible, test with another EV or cable. If E12 clears, the original cable or vehicle connector is likely at fault.
- 5. Technician diagnosis: A technician can measure the PP resistance values and verify that the main PCB correctly detects them. A faulty cable head or main board may need replacement.
