Possible Causes
Moisture ingress in vehicle connector, Damaged insulation in charge cable, Faulty internal ground fault current sensor, Contaminated or loose protective earth (PE) connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the charger’s breaker and confirm power is off. Never bypass ground fault protection.
- Inspect for moisture: Check the vehicle connector and the area where the cable enters the Polestar charger housing. If there is visible moisture, dry the connector thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow the unit to air dry for several hours. Do not use heat guns on the connector.
- Check cable condition: Run your hand along the entire length of the cable. Look for cuts, abrasions, or melted spots that could expose conductors. If any damage is found, replace the complete Polestar charge cable assembly.
- Verify earth connection: With the cover removed (qualified persons only), inspect the PE (ground) conductor from the supply to the internal earth terminal and bonding strap. Tighten any loose screws and ensure there is no corrosion on the earth bar.
- Reset and test: Restore power, then press any reset function on the charger (if provided) or power cycle again. Try charging a different vehicle if possible. If E02 recurs with a dry connector and good cable, the internal ground fault sensor or GFCI module on the main control board may be defective and should be replaced by a service technician.
