Possible Causes
Shorted output contactor, Internal power module fault, Incorrect current setting in configuration, Damaged charge cable causing partial short
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the charger breaker. Do not repeatedly reset an overcurrent fault without inspection, as this can damage wiring.
- Inspect cable and connector: Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or discoloration on the vehicle connector and along the cable. Replace the Polestar charge cable assembly if any damage is found.
- Check configuration: If the charger has a user or installer menu (via app or display), verify that the maximum current setting does not exceed the rating of the supply circuit and internal components.
- Listen for contactor operation: During a start attempt (power on, then plug in vehicle), you should hear a distinct click from the internal contactor. If the contactor chatters or sticks, it may be welded or failing and should be replaced.
- Professional testing: Persistent E06 with a good cable suggests an internal power module or contactor fault. A qualified technician should test the output stage and replace the Polestar power module or contactor as needed.
