Possible Causes
Broken proximity pilot conductor in cable, Incorrect or open PP resistor in handle, Contaminated or damaged PP pin in connector, Faulty PP sensing circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the charger before inspecting the connector or opening the housing.
- Inspect connector body: Examine the Polestar vehicle connector for cracks, impact damage, or loose parts. Pay attention to the small PP pin and surrounding plastic.
- Check cable strain relief: Ensure the cable is firmly clamped at the charger housing and at the connector. Excessive flexing can break the PP conductor.
- Wiggle test: With power off, gently flex the cable near the connector while listening for loose parts inside. If the PP resistor module in the handle is loose or rattling, the connector assembly should be replaced.
- Connector replacement: If E08 persists and physical damage is visible, replace the complete Polestar connector and cable assembly. If the cable tests good but the error remains, the PP sensing circuit on the main control board may need replacement by a technician.
