Possible Causes
Failed internal cooling fan, Blocked air intake or exhaust, Faulty fan speed sensor, Fan power driver failure on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and wait for internal components to cool before touching.
- Check vents: Ensure all ventilation openings on the Polestar charger are clear of dust, cobwebs, or obstructions. Clean gently with a soft brush or vacuum.
- Inspect fan: With the cover removed and power off, check that the fan blades spin freely by hand. If stiff or seized, replace the fan assembly.
- Verify fan connection: Confirm that the fan’s power connector is firmly seated on the control or power board.
- Operational test: Restore power and start a charging session while observing the fan. If it does not run or runs erratically, replace the Polestar cooling fan. If a new fan does not resolve E20, the fan driver circuit on the main control board may be faulty.
