Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the Porsche EV charger at the dedicated breaker and verify no voltage is present at the unit before touching wiring. Do not open the charger if you are not qualified; internal components can retain dangerous voltages.
- Inspect the Type 2 plug and socket: With power off, examine the vehicle connector and the wallbox socket for bent pins, melted plastic, corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with a soft, dry brush. Do not use metal tools.
- Check cable integrity: Run your hand along the Porsche-branded charging cable from the wallbox to the plug. Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections. If the cable jacket is damaged, discontinue use immediately and replace the complete cable assembly.
- Reseat the connector: Restore power, then firmly insert the plug into the vehicle until you hear/feel the latch engage. A partial insertion can cause pilot signal errors.
- Test with another vehicle or cable: If available, try charging a different Porsche EV or use a different Porsche-approved Type 2 cable. If the error disappears, the original cable or vehicle inlet is suspect.
- Internal CP circuit check (technician): A qualified technician can open the wallbox, verify the control pilot output from the main control PCB, and check the CP resistor network and wiring harness from the PCB to the socket. Replace the main control board or socket harness if out of specification.
