Safety first: Overcurrent conditions can damage wiring and components. Turn off the charger at the breaker before inspection.

• Check configuration: Access the Porsche wallbox configuration (via DIP switches, internal rotary selector, or web interface depending on model) and verify that the maximum current is set according to the supply circuit rating and installation manual.
• Inspect cable and plug: Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or deformation on the Type 2 plug and cable. If any damage is found, replace the complete cable assembly.
• Test with lower current: If the wallbox allows, temporarily reduce the maximum current setting and attempt a charge. If E08 disappears at lower current, suspect marginal wiring or a failing connector.
• Technician current sensor test: A technician should verify the output current using a clamp meter and compare it to the value reported by the wallbox (if available). If the sensor is inaccurate, replace the main control PCB or current transformer module.
• Inspect internal wiring: The technician should check all internal power connections for tightness and signs of arcing, and replace any damaged components.
