Possible Causes
Defective main control PCB, Corrupted firmware on Porsche wallbox controller, Faulty internal power supply module, Damaged internal wiring harness between PCB and front panel or sensors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before opening the charger. Internal capacitors may hold charge; only qualified personnel should service internal electronics.
- Power cycle: Turn off the breaker for at least 2 minutes to allow internal capacitors to discharge, then restore power and observe whether E09 clears.
- Firmware recovery: If supported, connect to the wallbox via its service interface or network and attempt a firmware update or recovery using Porsche’s official tools.
- Inspect internal harnesses: A technician should open the unit and check all low-voltage harnesses between the main control PCB, front panel display, RFID reader (if present), and sensors. Reseat connectors and look for bent pins.
- Check internal power supply: The technician should verify that the low-voltage rails (e.g., 5 V, 12 V) from the internal power supply module are within tolerance. Replace the power supply module if voltages are unstable.
- Replace main control PCB: If all other components test good and E09 persists, replace the main control PCB with a Porsche-approved replacement.
